A business blog with informative articles can drive website traffic, improve your search engine ranking and position you as an industry thought leader. Alternatively, write engaging articles and post them on high authority websites with dofollow backlinks to your website. Search engines measure the quality, quantity and anchor text to rank websites. However, not all backlinks are useful and some can even be detrimental. Nofollow backlinks will still direct website traffic but are not used in search engine ranking. And links from spam sites will be detrimental to your website ranking.
